Kurt Brumbaugh

Kurt Brumbaugh, Technical Training Specialist
Kurt brings to his work as a Minitab Trainer both a wide range of experience and an appreciation for the many fields in which statistics can be applied.
He began his career as a Research Statistician for the Center for Disease Control (CDC), where he provided researchers with experimental designs and analyses for genetic experiments and other biological projects. While working for the CDC, he also gained experience in statistical software development.
He then began working in the manufacturing industry as a Statistician for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he became an expert in statistical process control and used it to develop standard operating procedures for setting specifications. He also strengthened Kellogg's research and development culture by establishing a more statistically robust procedure for product improvement.
One of the things Kurt enjoys most about training Minitab customers is stepping into their world and helping them harness the power of statistics. "I like that the professionals I train come from a diverse group of companies but have one thing in common – they want to improve their business," he said. "Helping them develop the statistical skills they need to achieve their goals, and seeing how excited they get when they realize they can, is very satisfying."
In addition to working in research and business, Kurt has taught statistics at West Virginia University and the University of Nebraska. He received both his B.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and completed Six Sigma Green Belt training by General Electric.
