Michelle Paret is Minitab’s Technical Sales Manager for the Minitab Statistical Software and Quality Trainer product lines. She joined the company in 2000 as a member of its technical support team, then later worked as a technical trainer. These positions provided the opportunity to work directly with practitioners, understand their challenges, and help them effectively use statistics to gain insight from their data, and that experience has been invaluable in her current role. Michelle earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Statistics from The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Scott Kowalski earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Florida with a concentration in Design of Experiments. He has been a Technical Trainer at Minitab, Inc. since 2001 and currently works with Minitab’s international partners on their certified training programs and leads the development of Minitab’s training courses. Scott is on the editorial review board of Quality Engineering. He has published articles in the Journal of Quality Technology, Quality Engineering, Quality Reliability Engineering International, Technometrics, and Quality Progress. Scott was awarded the 2005 Lloyd Nelson Award by ASQ for the paper having “the greatest immediate impact to practitioners".
In August 2016 Joel joined Dr Pepper Snapple Group as Director of Rapid Continuous Improvement. Previously, Joel held several positions within Minitab Inc. from 2004 to 2016. During his time at Minitab he worked with leading consultants, trainers, and other third-parties to ensure that they had the statistical tools necessary to make their clients achieve excellence. Joel has served as Chair of the ASQ Statistics Division and Chair of the Lean and Six Sigma World Conference and is the author of the Random Thoughts column in Six Sigma Forum Magazine. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and an MS in Statistics from Virginia Tech.
Dr. David Kashmer is Chair of Surgery at a 30+, multi-specialty surgeon group in Massachusetts. He specializes in quality control and has shown a statistically significant improvement across multiple hospital initiatives. He established a company in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery that represents innovation in short term staffing using Lean Startup methodology. He is also the author and creator of an online venue for business model innovation in healthcare, leveraging social media in a HIPAA-compliant, positive way to explain techniques of quality improvement and service-line startup methodology. His passion is to bring advanced quality tools into the healthcare setting. Dr. Kashmer was recently named as a Baldrige Award examiner.
