Using Data and Statistics to Drive Improvement in the Mining Industry—Practical Examples
Like companies in many industries, mining operations use data to drive improvement and remain competitive. Data analysis can provide an indication of performance, identify problems and help with decision making, but needs to be balanced with practical application. This presentation will provide examples of how statistical concepts can be translated into practical solutions to deliver results.
Presenter: Anthony Tarsill, Partner at Secora Consulting, a company that specialises in helping businesses deliver results through Lean, Six Sigma and other business improvement techniques. He has over 15 years of technical and operational experience in the mining industry.

Analysing Non-Normal Data Made Easy with Minitab Most Six Sigma and process capability tools assume that the data is normal and comes from a stable process, but data from some processes are not normally distributed and will provide inaccurate estimates. This presentation will examine non-normality issues relating to capability studies and options for analysing non-normal data using Minitab Statistical Software.
Presenter: Shalendra Jattan, Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt & Operational Excellence Manager at Tyco Electronics, has led improvement programs within Australia and New Zealand. Shalendra has trained and mentored Black Belts in Service, Manufacturing and Design Engineering.
